Pure Contrast

I had a pretty crappy day in the weird world of Real Life yesterday, so I thought I’d go shopping in the Virtual world to cheer myself up. You can’t beat a little retail therapy occasionally! I ended up at the Midnight Order & Mainframe events collecting the latest offerings from Fallen Gods and others. Today I’m featuring the Pure Ebony Ivory skin with the Widow tattoo which are at Midnight Order, I’ll be following up with the skin from Mainframe very soon.

Rocking The Majestic

After a rather tedious trip to the libary in my last post, I’ve now got some lovely stuff to show you. More from PixelBox, an absolutely gorgeous skin from Fallen Gods and flying ship from En Pointe.

Today’s outfit is the kind of thing you’d often see me in, steampunk style turned rocker.

The photos were taken on my fabulous flying galleon, created by Ketsui Naidoo. If you’re a Fantasy Faire Fan you’ll notice it looks remarkably like the FaireChylde (the venue for many parties), that’s because she made that too! If you want your own, she currently has a 35% sale on here entire store (excluding very new items) for a whole month.

You do need a bit of space for one of these, because that’s the tower of a full-size castle at the bottom of the photo.

  • PIXEL BOX – Guardian Angel Crop Top – Mainstore
  • PIXEL BOX – Punk Leather boots Over the knee – Mainstore

Gothic Vintage from PixelBox – EVERYTHING ON SALE!

PixelBox HAS A SALE ON!

As one of my favourite steampunk/gothic stores, I couldn’t help but to shout about it and put one of their outfits together to show you. In fact they have stuff on sale in multiple places right now. At the Mainstore and on Marketplace they have their Fall Sale where everything is 99L$. On top of that everything at their Halloween Shop & Hop booth is 50% off.

The Halloween Shop & Hop closes on 5th November, but the Mainstore sale doesn’t close until the 15th, so you have plenty of time to grab a bargain!

I think I’ll be bringing you a few more PixelBox outfits in the near future!

Fallen Angel

One of my favourite songs is Wish I Had an Angel by Nightwish, it has some very enticing lyrics and every so often I’m inspired to create an Angel avatar. This time there’s a second reason to create one, the Fallen God & Goddess Contest 2023.

While I was exploring the Renaissance Festival event I thought about how I would stage the photo. I wanted a classic pose, but one that didn’t put me in a position that would obscure the details of the Fallen Gods items. Which was when I came across this gorgeous harp, which was perfect.

Last dance, first kiss
Your touch, my bliss
Beauty always comes with dark thoughts

Wish I Had an Angel, Nightwish

If you want to participate in the Fallen Gods contest, entries are open until 7th October and voting begins on the 9th. Details of how to apply and the rules can be gound on the Fallen Gods Blog.

Centauria Roleplay Intro

Last night I attended an introduction to Roleplay at Ancient Order of Centaurs (AoC). I’ve written about this place before, most recently covering a couple of their Fantasy Faire events.

This intro was about the type of RP they do there, both formal and informal, along with an introduction to their roleplay HUD based on the Unity system.

They have lots of different races at AoC, but mostly all are variant of “taur” which is usually a mix of human upper body and animal lower body.

We had a chat to begin with about who had what kind of roleplay exerience as well as about the different races and houses that you can be a part of at Centauria. Next we were taken to collect AoC Roleplay HUDs, based on the Unity Maxim system.

Left: Main Unity HUD. Right: AoC Setup HUD

If you can just about read the text above my avatars head, I chose for now to be Merchant Class, but we shall see if a story develops along that line or not, but it’s easily changed.

The system allows the use of items and currency that we can exchange and use in Roleplay, this is currenty what I have after yesterdays induction:

Inventory:
centaurian chiron: 1
centaurian drachma: 5
centaurian obol: 10
End Inventory.

DJ Tori at BURN2

I’ve previously mentioned my friend DJ Anj and his set at SL18B among other times. Tonight his partner and my good friend Tori was on the main stage to DJ at Burn2 that I wrote about previously.

It was a fantastic set visually as well as audiably,as I expect the other performers at the event will be!

DJ Anj & Tori are scheduled to be performing on Friday 15th at  1pm SLT/PDT so don’t miss that!

You can find a schedule of the other performers on the Burn2 website Calendar. Which runs until the 17th October.

Lexecutioner

One of the things I love about SecondLife is the variety of creations available to dress our avatars in weird and wonderful ways. I enjoy making themed outfits inspired by books featured the SecondLife Book Club, but I’ve recently been reading a book not featured at the club: Armada by Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One (&Two).

A character we meet early on is Alexis Larkin a gamer girl (call sign: Lexecutioner) I thought it would be fun to make an avatar outfit in her described image. As I read the (usefully detailed) description of her, I was sure it wouldn’t take me too long…except for the tattoos!

" ..Alabaster skin contrasted sharply with her dark clothing—black combat boots, black jeans, and a black tank top (which didn’t fully conceal the black bra she was wearing underneath). She had a spiky wave of black hair that was buzzed down one side and chin-length on the other. But the real kicker was her tattoos, on each arm: on the left was a beautiful seminude rendering of the comic book heroine Tank Girl, adorned in postapocalyptic rock lingerie and smooching an M16. On her right bicep, in stylized capital letters, were the words EL RIESGO SIEMPRE VIVE."

Cline, Ernest. Armada (pp. 114-115). Random House. Kindle Edition.

I was able to make the tattoo that reads “EL RIESGO SIEMPRE VIVE” on her right arm fairly easily, then found a picture of TankGirl that looked close enough to the description (after a bit of tweaking) for left arm.

Of course any Sci-Fi outfit wouldn’t be complete without their respective gadget. In this book it’s called a “QComm” and can do pretty much anything communication wise from anywhere, including controlling drones.

Burn2 – Burning Man Festival in SecondLife

Burn2 is the the virtual presence of Burning Man in SecondLife. While it’s been around for many years this is the first time I made it to one of their events.

The event consisted of a torchlit procession around the perimeter amog various diffent community built structures, then a fire dancing performance, followed by the “burning” of a virtual wicker effigy.

People were encouraged totake part in the procession, so I did.

The Fire Dancing..

Burning The Effigy..

With appropriately atmospheric music and dancing following the “Burn”, it was really good fun. They have quite regular events that you can read more about on their website, I’d recommend going along to one if you have the opportunity.

Rainbow Relay

Yesterday saw the start of American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay Weekend. There are 36 regions in a circuit similar to Fantasy Faire but larger, with a track running through them all.

You can take laps around this track in aid of Relay For Life. There are themed builds along both sides of the entire track (known as campsites) that you can stop and explore, as well as donation vendors everywhere, so you can chip in your own contribution, which will usually also yield a gift item of some kind. I was able to snag one of the Ultra-rare Cancer Aware wishbears from a gatcha vendor.

This is just a sample of some of the fantastic builds by the track, you can see more I took in this Flickr Album.

The scheduled events run through to 5pm SLT/PST on Sunday 13th June, you can see the schedule on the ACS SecondLife website. Update: The track regions will be available “at least” until Thursday 17th so you have plenty of time to get over there and do a lap!

Edit 14th June:

Why rainbows? I didn’t intend to mix meanings here, wearing a Pride (Rainbow) outfit to a Relay (Purple) event. Its quite simple, I wasn’t originally intending to blog the Relay (just do a lap) until I was part way around and saw all the beautiful builds, it was simply what I was already wearing when I got there.
