For stuff that isn’t Wandering or RP..seems rather empty..but usually because enjoying myself I don’t think about blogging it. Also you’d get bored of snapshots of me dancing.
Today I was working on my next exploration blog post, which can be rather long, so I took a break to finish tomorrow. SL however is primarily for fun (and/or joy..) in my opinion, so when my friend Joy texted to ask if I wanted to come party, how could I say no?
A night of revelry with a group of old friends and the return of DJ Anjoux Herbit to SL after two years away. We missed him!
I arrived early to find Anj warming up the stage:

It wasn’t long before the music started and everyone started to arrive, in ones and twos the dancefloor began to fill up with familiar and new faces.

Ava finished the night at Durty Feckers and after some over consumption of Amber nectar she posed looking all flirty on the pool table with mischief (and Whisky) in her eyes. Alas she’s had too much and with all the dancing it was time to pass out. Her place felt far too far away though, so this conveniently located, felt-topped bed will do just fine!
Backpack: Legends Satchel ~ Lucky Explorer – Event item from Bloodlines – A whole load of complicated to get if you don’t alreay play their Legends gam. But if you do play, go HERE and wave your wand near the Summoning Station on the boat.
After seeing Isabelles fab post about Cyber Fair I thought it would be fun to do a little collaboration. So she invited me over and we had a nice little chat about what to do and tried stuff out until we got some great shots worked out. I absolutely love this one and had great fun taking it.
Isabelle: “We’re here to save the Galaxy…” Isabelles corresponding (Light-side?) post: Same moment, different view.

I woke up the other morning and really wanted a hug, in these current times such things are no longer to be taken for granted.
So we do “virtual hugs”..in the Real world (*rolls eyes*). This is not what I’m referring to here though. Not the extending our arms and waving them about in an impersonation of a hug at someone stood 2 metres away. Some people may get some comfort from this gesture but for me, it just looks ridiculous and doesn’t really trigger the emotional response we need, so I don’t do it.
I’m also not talking about emoji and gifs (although the latter are usually more heartfelt) expressing the same sentiments.
What I’m referring to is something like this:
Pic by Strawberry Linden.
This photo was taken in Secondlife because that’s my playground. You could achieve the same thing in other virtual environments. (But SL’s the best!)
The key though is emotional attachment, if you form an emotional attachment to your avatar, what happens to your avatar triggers an emotional response for you. In this case the sensation of closeness to another human being, even if what your eyes are seeing is pixel people. In your head it’s a virtual “you”, the other person wants to share this moment with you and that is the point. This doesn’t work for some people I know that, they just see pixels on a screen and it triggers nothing, to me they’re missing out.
So come Valentines Day, (or any day you feel you need one) if you can’t be near someone for a Physical hug, come into SL and get a proper Virtual Hug.
I didn’t capture the hug I got that day, but it inspired me to write this, the picture above was taken at Second Life Book Club.
Last night I watched Mika Snow interview the inspirational Strawberry Singh, blogger turned Linden. Following on from my post yesterday, I’ve another fun dancing snap. As I said yesterday, to me SL is about friendship, it’s also about Fun!
How people have their fun in SL can vary considerably in a world where pretty much anything is possible, but me right now it’s these simple things.
Strawberry echoed this yesterday, when she said that as a newbie, this was mostly what she (and most newbies) did; Made friends, danced and partied.
Ava is now waaay beyond the newbie phase at age 7 in SL, but I still love a good party. So much so I recently took a hosting job at Ohana Rock Club, which is great! The picture above was taken at one of my hosting shifts by Tina Twine, who labelled it “Hip-Grinding at Ohana”. To twist a Forest Gump quote “That’s all I should say about that!”
I realised that my blog that is supposedly “Chronicles of Ava’s SecondLife Adventures” misses out quite a lot. It’s become more of a Destinations blog, which is fine, I like visiting new places and writing about them. But I just wanted to show other stuff I do as well when not exploring, so here’s a snapshot from yesterday. Hanging out at a club with some great friends, which is one of the most important things about SL for me. Friendships. From Left to Right: Me,Sheree and Abby.
